Radiation is electromagnetic waves which directly transport heat energy through space. Through radiation, solar gain from sunlight shining through glass windows can send heat into the room.

SEAG Film is specially designed to provide insulation by changing the emissivity of the surface where it is applied. All materials have emissivity ranging from 0 to 1 and a lower value indicates a surface with a low level of radiation. Glass exhibits high emissivity at 0.95. SEAG’s radiation control technology works by lowering the surface emissivity to 0.049 or 1/18 (laboratory test preformed by Saitama Industrial Technology Centre), lessening its ability to radiate heat without perceptible reduction in visible light.

Convection is the transfer of heat in fluid or air, caused by the movement of the heated air or fluid itself.

During winter the inside of the window is warmer than the outside on average. The window will act as a medium for the transfer of heat from the inside of the property to the outside. The window absorbs heat from the air inside that is closest to the window, that colder air then drops to be replaced by new warmer air, and so the process repeats until the inside air is the same temperature as the outside! Basically, the greater the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the window, the easier it is for air to move and the greater losses occur due to convection.

SEAG Film breaks the link between heat transfer through the window. It resists and minimizes air movement and effectively reduces heat loss due to convection.
